2017 Spring Newsletter - The King’s Corner
This year for Catholic Schools Week, our theme was “We’re All On One Team...God’s Team!” Catholic School’s week is a time for us to celebrate our Catholic identity, each other, and our school. Every day of the week there is something fun planned. This year, each homeroom had a saint as their team name and a team color.
We also added a charitable component this year by asking students to score a “touchdown” and bring in 6 canned goods to be donated to a food pantry. We highlighted all of our St. Louis the King families with “family selfies” that we put on display.
During the week, our eighth graders traveled to St. Ambrose School for prayer and Virtue Based Restorative Discipline (VBRD) circle sharing. We have partnered with St. Ambrose to offer our 8th grade students an opportunity to lead and be involved in more student-led activities. St. Ambrose eighth graders will be coming to our school later in the spring. The classes introduced themselves to each other via Skype before the first visit. We look forward to this continued relationship.
We are truly blessed at St. Louis the King at the Cathedral! We continue to be a part of the Pointe to Succeed Program with the St. Louis Ballet Company. Our 2nd-5th graders attended the Nutcracker Ballet in December. Many of these students will take an after-school ballet class as well. We are grateful for this experience for our students.
I encourage all of you to join us at our Mass on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Cathedral. On the first Wednesday of every month, we host light refreshments after Mass and fellowship.
